Regulations CorisLab
Art.1
The Laboratory, called CorisLab (Laboratory of Communication and Social Research), is the structure that provides the hardware and software means of calculation and the technical-IT and statistical-methodological support services for scientific research and teaching.
Art.2
The following are users of CorisLab:
- Teachers and researchers from the Department of Communication and Social Research;
- Those enrolled in courses or PhD programmes offered by the aforementioned Department;
- Those enrolled in degree programmes, advanced training courses and Master's programmes offered by the aforementioned Department;
- Teachers, researchers, PhD students and those enrolled in degree programmes, advanced training courses and Master's programmes at the other departments of the Faculty of Political Science, Sociology and Communication, subject to the stipulation of appropriate agreements;
- Other subjects indicated in specific agreements approved by the Department of Communication and Social Research Council;
- The technical and administrative staff of the Department of Communication and Social Research and of the affiliated Departments.
Art.3
CorisLab provides services within the limits of the provisions of these regulations to authorised users.
CorisLab hardware and software equipment can be used for:
- Data processing relating to: research of national interest (PRIN) university research research funded by the Department of Communication and Social Research research funded by public bodies and/or other affiliated Departments research commissioned on behalf of third parties degree theses theses for postgraduate courses
- Practical exercises as part of the teaching activities of teachers and researchers;
- Examination tests, in cases where the use of personal computers is required;
- Training courses for users, organised by CorisLab;
- Internet connection (regulation approved by the Department Council on 6/12/1995).
CorisLab is also responsible for:
IT, statistical and methodological consultancy; organisation of training courses on software implemented in the laboratory structure; management of the local network and the corresponding subnet connected to the RSA of the via Salaria site for use by the Department of Communication and Social Research; management of the local networks and corresponding subnets of other Departments of the via Salaria site, if provided for by specific agreements approved by the Council of the Department of Communication and Social Research; Technical support for the teaching and technical-administrative staff of the Department of Communication and Social Research; Technical support for the teaching and technical-administrative staff of other Departments at the via Salaria site, if provided for by specific agreements approved by the Council of the Department of Communication and Social Research.
Art. 4
Except in extraordinary cases, in derogation of the following regulations, and in accordance with the deliberations of the Departmental Council and Board, all users must comply with the following provisions:
- access to CorisLab is permitted on the days and at the times indicated in a notice signed by the Head of the facility;
- students, PhD students, those enrolled in advanced training courses and Masters programmes, research fellows and subject specialists are authorised to use the equipment only upon request of a personal password, obtainable through an online procedure (http://goo.gl/forms/sF3WCE05Vi). The organisation is responsible for checking the legitimacy of requests (administrative regularity). The user can collect the credentials in person at the laboratory by showing a valid identity document. This authorisation is valid for one year and can be renewed upon expiry.
- Use of the equipment is subject to the following conditions: a. that only users belonging to the categories indicated in art. 2 are involved; b. that the type of use is that indicated in art. 3.
Art. 5
The costs relating to general services, installations and the maintenance of technical connections are charged to the Department of Communication and Social Research, which decides on the amounts annually in the context of the Budget, taking into account the agreements stipulated and the regular transfer of funds.
The financial expenses deriving from the acquisition of equipment and its use for data processing, exercises, training courses and exam tests will be covered by contributions from the Laboratory, as proposed by the Department of Communication and Social Research and the affiliated Departments.
Art.6
The laboratory is governed by:
- a technical-scientific manager, appointed on the proposal of the director and with the approval of the Department Council, who is responsible for the management and organisation of activities and services and the operational coordination of the staff involved; educational assistance and technical-methodological support in all phases of research for various users (students of institutional and postgraduate courses, researchers and teachers); assistance with the use of computer packages for quantitative data processing; the conducting of seminars and research laboratories at an advanced level for PhD and Master's degree activities and courses on the use of computer packages for data processing; the updating and acquisition of databases for secondary analyses;
- a scientific advisor, appointed on the recommendation of the director and with the approval of the Department Council, who has expertise in planning, refresher courses, consortia and fundraising, both internally and externally.
